racing boats

The image of peacefully sailing over still waters is one that many consider as the ideal way to spend a day. For others, racing across the water at high speeds is your way of relaxing. Whatever your preference, one thing is sure; boating is one of the most popular sports in the world and the UK is one of the best places to enjoy the sport.
For those who crave speed there are several options to satisfy your need for speed. You can choose a sail boat, jet boat or super power boat. One of the newest trends in boat racing is Thundercat Racing – the ultimate boating experience.

Thundercat racing involves high speed racing and circling around buoys in close action with other boats. There are usually two people per boat; one to steer and one to assist in turns by pulling on ropes. It is highly competitive, highly addictive and completely exciting. Thundercat boats are designed to plane quickly and allow the boat to ride on the surface of the water on a cushion of air bubbles that reduce friction between the boat and the water allowing amazing speeds.
With a low start up cost, Thundercat racing is something everyone can be involved in from youth to older adults. The race is based on a 400 meter by 200 meter “M” design circuit that includes five turns around buoys and chicane. Boats are in very close proximity which increases the adrenaline rush and excitement.  One warning thought; this adrenaline pumping sport is highly addictive
